Smart Cars

Wonder what future cars would offer?

Renault recently presented a concept car Altica, which has a speedometer integrated into a large transparent dice on the steering. The programming is done such that the dice lights up in red when you are going too fast.
Siemens is working on a Bi-Vision Cockpit, capable of displaying data on the windscreen, mostly navigational
Audi is working on a concept where both driver and passenger can observe one screen, split up in two, to watch two different pieces of information, so while the driver is busy trying to figure out the route, you can watch your favorite DVD. Also this would be capable of connecting to the internet.
Future cars would have self-healing software to diagnose and treat system failures before they occur to minimize manitenance.
Cars would be built in wih intersection assistants to tell them what they can expect at a coming intersection.
Speedometers having the ablility to communicate to speed limit signs to warn the driver if he/she is going too fast.
External airbags which would be inflated by a pre-crash sensor to cushion a pedestrian.
